Wohner on the Radio - Episode 4

Another Saturday on the airwaves of WSOE. I'm currently talking to bands about appearing on the show and the feedback has been pretty positive thus far. I'm not going to write any names. You know how it goes. Keep expectations low, high performance makes you a fan favorite. In regards to the show, it was breezy enough. The first of my fall releases came out last week so I played a lot of Keane's "Perfect Symmetry". Quick review: strong lyrics, 80's vibe, same droney vibe and strong vocals that you love from Keane's Tommy Chaplin. And a great album design concept. Otherwise, I'm still working on my new opening, which I will post once I get it right. But things are fun and the show is the highlight of my week. The feedback has been positive and I'm excited about finishing the semester strong.

Wohner on the Radio! Week 2

I, Robert Wohner, took the airwaves once again at the studies of WSOE. Again, it was an abbreviated session, due to the Elon University football game. But an hour is plenty of time to screw things up as well as have some great radio. And it was a good hour. I was joined by Mark Capazzola and Christine Fizpatrick, WSOE executives. Along with being Promotions director, Mark Capazzola is a good friend with a killer fashion sense. Unfortunately, his good nature makes him target to my verbal jabs on air ("It looks as if you've eaten too many lumberjack meals to fit into that tight band t-shirt") Besides that, we had a great conversation. Always promoting, Mark told WSOE's Live at Lighthouse shows which feature local bands every Wednesday. All in all, glad to have them both join me on the show.

For some reason, I was inspired to say a two minute "soliloquy" over Coldplay's two minute instrumental "Life in Technicolor". I'm glad no transcript of it exists, because, while inspirational, a long. I'll try it again at some point.

Here's a list of the songs I played. Nothing as underground as the week before. I'd gotten a lot of albums over the week, albums of a lighter nature and I think that came through. But it was an entertaining playlist.
The Cardigans "Your New Cuckoo" - Opening album of the band's "First Band on the Moon". Heavy guitar work over a light pop song. Nina rocks.
Sigor Ros "Gobbledigoo" - I've never heard anyone speak ill of Sigor Ros as well as this stirring opening track from their latest release.
Coldplay "Yellow" - Enough said.
Fiona Apple "Tymps (The Sick in the Head Song)" - I was told this song makes you want to smoke a cigarette. Fantistic, sarcastic song from Fiona's "Extraordinary Machine"
Shout Out Louds "Impossible" - The feel good song from my newest favorite band from Sweden. Well, since the A*Teens.
Goo Goo Dolls "Bullet Proof" - As 90s as it gets, a good track nonetheless.
The Cardigans "Lovefool" - Enough said. Love me.
Third Eye Blind "Deep Inside of You" - This track doesn't get the play of 3eb's other works but as pretty and sincere as anything else they've released.
Radiohead "2+2=5" - Watch the YouTube video. Quite pleasingly disturbing.
